Hey there! Are you looking for quick cleaning tips that will give your home a refresh?
Great!
I remember when my house used to stay clean. That was 3 kids, and one dog ago!
Now that perfectly polished floors don’t last long, I’m making sure to address all of the areas of our home that might be getting neglected during the weekly wipe down.
A lot of ideas within this post address those areas we haven’t had the motivation to tackle.
Until now! ๐
I’ve searched the web and gathered these need to know quick cleaning tips from some of the most creative cleaners and organizers out there!
They’ll hit the seriously dirty parts of your home that you might be overlooking.
Not that anyone would ever do that, right?!? ๐
Let’s get to it!
#1) Ceiling Fan Quick Cleaning Tip
When it comes to ceiling fans, The Family Handyman helps solve one of our biggest ceiling fan problems (and probably the reason they don’t receive a lot of attention).
Figuring out HOW to get up to them!
These fan blades definitely need a bi annual wipe down, otherwise they can fling dust and dirt all over the room when they are turned on ~ gross!
The Family Handyman provides the great idea of attaching a dryer sheet to a paint roller with rubber bands. You can raise and lower the extendable painting pole and carefully dust the blades from the ground!
A microfiber cloth would also work well.
#2) Quick Cleaning Tip For When Your Bathroom Smells Like Pee Ask Anna
Have you ever finished cleaning your bathroom and can’t figure out why it still smells like pee?
There’s a good chance urine can be lurking towards the back of the potty between the tank and back of the stool.
In this great tutorial from Ask Anna, she starts by taking the entire seat off the hinges with this flat head screw driver.
It’s not a ton of work but makes ALL the difference!
After wiping it all down, she gives a quick swipe of the screwdriver/wipe combo to that unreachable and stinky place towards the base of the tank!
#3) Quick Cleaning Tip For Neglected Microwaves Sweet Southern Mel
If you’re in a hurry, chances are your microwave has a few stains and spills.
This is such a smart and effortless way to clean those seemingly baked on pieces of…whatever they are!
Sweet Southern Mel recommends mixing vinegar, and water and microwaving it for 5 minutes before you do anything!
This will save you tons of time scrubbing as stains will easily wipe clean.
#4) Oven Cleaning Tip Without Harsh Chemicals
Ovens take a beating! They usually don’t get a lot of attention until they start wafting smoke from burned bits of food.
Melissa at Polished Habitat swears by Magic Erasers to clean your oven.
I’ve tried this and it really does work, even when your oven is really dirt! If you want to jump start the magic erasing, bake a pan of water for a bit to steam things up inside, just like the microwave trick above!
#5) Crazy Good Couch Cleaning Tip One Good Thing
Microfiber is a pretty awesome material, but anyone that owns one knows they can stain in a hurry – especially the lighter colors.
What’s tricky about microfiber is that if you use water to clean it, it leaves a huge drying ring and looks even worse than when you started!
As noted by Jillee from One Good Thing, the trick to removing the stains without the ring is rubbing alcohol!
Use a good bristled scrubbing brush or sponge, and a microfiber cloth to scrub it down.
#6) The Best Ever Quick Cleaning Grout Cleaner
Did you know you can use this handy bleaching jell way beyond the toilet?!
Use it to disinfect and brighten your tile grout by just let it sit there. If you leave it for 10-15 minutes (or longer for less scrubbing) that should do the trick.
Simply wipe up with water and a wet mop and your floors will be polished as well. The before and afters on this post from Life PreKARIous are pretty awesome!
#7) Quick Cleaning Tip For Soap Scum Prevention
This great idea from Uncommon Design makes so much sense!
It turns out that Rain-X isn’t just for cars, it works wonders on your shower glass too!
I would highly recommend you clean your shower doors before applying though. You’ll keep your clean surface scum free for so much longer with this effortless quick cleaning tip.
#8) Quick Cleaning Tip For Hard Water Stains
When life hands you lemons…clean your fixtures! ๐
Clutter Free Life recommends cutting a lemon in half and rubbing them directly on faucets and fixtures works to remove stubborn hard water stains.
You can even sprinkle on a little salt for extra scrubbing power.
Super smart and chemical free!
#9) Quick Cleaning Tip For An Always Ready Potty Scrubber
This tip from Smart School House hardly needs an explanation. But the preparation is brilliant!
Not only will this will help keep your toilet brush disinfected, it will also keep it pre-loaded with cleaner for your next use.
Great idea Kelly! …One note of caution however for those of you with little people on the floor (or curious pets), be sure to keep the brush out of the reach!
A secure cupboard next to the potty could be a good alternative.
#10) Quick Cleaning Tip For Stinky Garbage Disposals
Have an old tooth brush lying around? Great!
It’s time to give your garbage disposals a quick scrub so that it quits wafting up strange odors! ๐
This simple and smart idea from Family Handyman will actually get rid of organic waste products instead of simply covering them up!
#11) DIY Cleaning Device For Your Vertical Blinds
It’s hard to gather the dust off of your vertical blinds!
It’s a good thing Sprinkle Some Fun offers this brilliant solution.
While a quick pass with the vacuum or the Swiffer will work to maintain in between cleanings, this vertical blind deep clean is genius!
Grab a pair of kitchen tongs, a couple microfiber cloths and rubber bands and you’re in business!
#12) Quick Cleaning Tip For Dirty Screens
Screen doors and window screens can trap a lot of unwanted particles, especially if you live in a moist climate!
Handyman Magazine shows readers how to make quick work of that!
Use a lint roller to quickly attract all of the unwanted gunk! I’m thinking this could be a great job for the kids…

#14) Quick Cleaning Tip For Your Dishwasher Clean with Vinegar, Baking Soda & Bleach from One Good Thing
Jillee from One Good Thing combines a mixture of vinegar, baking soda and bleach to make her dishwasher look and smell like new.
Head up, you’ll need to run 3 dishwasher cycles. Good thing this doesn’t require any more effort than pressing a button! ๐
Run the first cycle with a vinegar, the second with baking soda, and the third with bleach.
Run them ALL on hot water settings.
This combo helps lift and remove all of the scum from the drain at the bottom and will make your dishwasher look and smell like new!
#15) Quick & Easy Way To Disinfect Your Washing Machine
How long has it been since you’ve disinfected the place responsible for cleaning everything you wear?!? Probably too long! ๐
One Good Things shows us it’s as simple as filling the washing machine with hot water and adding bleach to a normal wash cycle.
Depending on what kind of washer you have, you may want to throw a rag into the wash cycle and use it to wipe around the rubber rings and door closures when you’re done.
Happy Cleaning My Friends!

Hi Rachell, yes good point I had forgotten about our furry friends! Keeping the pinesole brush securely stored in a bathroom vanity cupboard would help keep it out of the reach of kids AND pets. ๐
