It’s so easy for your fridge and freezer to get messy in a hurry.
Don’t feel bad if its contents are in a state of disarray! We’ve all been there. 😛
And I know, you probably come across a bunch of picture perfect fridges neatly arranged with a few picture perfect healthy ingredients.
But let’s get real for a minute…
While those pictures look awesome, they are a far cry from the real life of a busy family!
What what about the take out, the left overs, the half eaten snacks, and the opened jars?!
That’s more where I find myself these days! 😉 How about you?
My goal for this post was to give us all ideas on ways we can maximize every inch of room inside our fridges and freezers.
Depending on what fridge/freezer set up you have going on, it’s my hope you can steal some of these tricks to help make the most of the space you’ve got, while also living real life.

I’m sorry to sound like captain obvious here, but there area a lot of reasons you need to store food in CLEAR containers.
Most obviously, you can see what is inside. When you see what’s inside the containers, you are less likely forget about it.
When you haven’t forgotten about it, you’re more likely to get it out and eat it. 🙂

#3) How to Organize Your Fridge Using Drawer Dividers
Drawer dividers aren’t just for dressers!

Most drawer dividers are spring loaded and easy to install.

Look no further on how to organize your fridge door shelves.
Alton Brown’s Facebook Video showcases this simple yet brilliant DIY!
How nice to make the most the bottom half of your condiment bottles.
I also love that this costs next to nothing to create and will help keep your shelving clean.

#7) How To Organize Your Fridge & Freezer By Adding Extra Pull Out Drawers
Make the most of the wasted space in your tall shelving compartments with these awesome pull out drawers.
They are perfect for smaller fresh produce that comes in plastic containers.

#8) DIY Magnetic Tins
I just love the creativity floating around the blogosphere. This idea comes from a guest post from Ursula at Tater Tots And Jello.
While she shows people how to make a number of creative and stylish magnetic tins, this plastic container with a magnet glued to the bottom is inexpensive and so practical.
I’ve always stored nuts and seeds in my fridge and freezer to prevent spoiling. This idea is genius.

This Sorbus Fridge Wine Rack is great for winos AND non drinkers. Again, it utilized space under the shelf, which is often underutilized and forgotten.
This can also be used to store larger items such as casserole pans and left over containers, tall condiment bottles, and other tall awkward items that can lay on their side.

This file folder organization idea from Buzz Feed is so practical. Their angled tops makes grabbing things super easy.
A great way to utilize the taller storage shelves inside of your fridge!

It’s so easy to have a half used jar of this, or a container of that sneaking up on it’s expiration date!
This box will help you keep an eye on those items and make them easily grouped and ready to toss if they’re past due.

Labeling your organization scheme really helps to keep things in their place.
You don’t have to go crazy, but they will really help remind anyone who is in and out of the fridge a lot where things go.

#16) Use Binder Clips To Stack Bottles On Wire Shelving
This Home Hacks idea works great if you have wire shelving inside of your fridge.
You can utilize vertical space in your fridge by stacking bottles and laying them on their side.
This is also really helpful when items are too tall to stand on their own. This a great tip to use for wine bottles and tall condiments as well.

If you find yourself having a lot of bagged items floating around your fridge this zip n store unit works beautifully!
It could be used in a fridge or freezer, and keeps hanging bags neatly organized and visible.

Kids could grab any pre-packaged item from the snack bin, and when it’s empty you’ll know it’s time restock!
#20) How To Organize Your Fridge Eggactly Right
Ok, I had to end this roundup with a shout out to my favorite egg container from Amazon.
We have 12 chickens, and LOTS of fresh eggs, so but this container helps keep them neatly arranged.
AND it is low profile so provides plenty of room to allow other things to get stacked on top of it!
