2. Farmhouse Whitewashed Mirror + Green Wreath
You don’t have to buy a new mirror to get the farmhouse look. Simply repurpose an older mirror with white chalk paint. A rustic brush stroke will enhance the overall look.
Using one large mirror looks amazing, but can get pricy. If you can’t find a item to refurbish, even better! Consider a grouping of smaller linear mirrors to get the same look for less!

All you’d need is an old piece of wood (or a new piece you paint a distressed white) 16 nails, a hammer, and picture hanging bracket.

In this DIY tutorial, Rachel, at Maison de Pax purchases inexpensive wooden brackets. She trims them up, distresses them along with the curtain rod to get a quintessential farmhouse look.
Great idea!
It can be hard to find curtain rods that fit larger window spaces. If you’re able to measure your own curtain rod to fit your window space you will save money you money and give the illusion of custom draperies.
#9 Thrift Store Farmhouse Jars
These thrift store up cycled canisters are genius! This DIY tutorial can be found from Twelve On Main who found these arguably unattractive stainless steel canisters at her local thrift store.
She scrubbed them, inverted on newspaper and painted them white. She then used stencil lettering and black spray paint to label the cans. So farmhouse chic!
To finish off the farmhouse look she sanded in select areas to give them a bit of a distressed look- brilliant!

There is something about chalkboards that radiate an old school house vibe. Nicole at The Inspired Hive offers a simple tutorial on making this chalkboard that she hangs above her fireplace.
After attaching two stained wooden runners along the top and bottom of the chalkboard she attaches a jute rope hanger. She then used fonts from her computer that she traces on with a chalk marker for an artistic touch.
