10 Step Quick Cleaning Checklist For Before Guests Arrive

Are you in need of a quick cleaning checklist?

Great!

If your guests are coming over soon you know you need to tidy up in short order!

But where do you start?

In this post we’ll cover the high spots that are most noticeable to your guests.

We’ll overlook the more time consuming tasks and focus on what you can quickly accomplish in less than an hour.

Let’s get to it!

Quick Cleaning Checklist For Your Main Bathroom

First up, the bathroom!

You’ll definitely need to tidy up and wipe down the bathroom that your guests will use during their visit.

I like to keep it simple – and FAST!

To do this, I keep a bottle of Windex and paper towels in every bathroom vanity.

You can use windex on nearly every surface in the bathroom: the mirror, counter top, and outside of the potty!

#1) A Quick Potty Clean

cleaning tips

This clorox toilet wand is a must have for quick toilet bowl scrub.

It has a long handle, and disposable head that is preloaded with cleaning solution so you don’t need to bother fumbling around with bottled cleaners.

After you’ve cleaned the bowl, use your windex and paper towel to clean the surrounding bowl, the back of the potty, and base towards the floor.

#2) Wipe Down Bathroom Mirror & Counter Top

The counter top and mirror are one of the more noticeable spaces your guests will use.

Keep them decluttered and freshly sanitized.

I like to do a quick clean of the vanity mirror, counter top, fixture handles, and bowl of the sink.

Next up…

#3) Put Out A Fresh Hand Towel

A clean and neatly folded hand towel is a must have accessory to freshly sanitized bathroom.

Even if your bathroom is spotless, if your hand towel is dirty the entire space will feel that way.

#4) Make Sure Toiletries Are Well Stocked

Writing this almost seems like a bad joke after the Covid19 pandemic!

Assuming you can find it 😉 make sure to have a fresh roll out or a handy supply of toilet paper easily accessible in your main bathroom.

No guests wants to find themselves seated with no TP in sight!

#5) Quick Cleaning Checklist – Clear Counter Clutter

Of all the quick cleaning checklist items, this one may make the biggest impact!

Take some time to clear off items from your everyday living spaces.

Keep counters and tables cleared of clutter and freshly wiped down.

If you have time to sort and store your things, great!  If not, simply grab an empty laundry basket to gather them up and store them out of sight.

You can deal with them later if you’re short on time. 🙂

#6) The Best Quick Cleaning Floor Vac

quick cleaning checklist

You guys, this little Hoover Linx cordless vacuum is my MVP of quick cleaning.

It manuvers well and has great suction on hard surfaces and low profile carpets.

In my opinion, what makes it one of the best cordless vacs on the market is the fact you can purchase a Battery Replacement!

It never fails, when you are ready to grab any battery operated device a lot of times it has only a handful of second before it dies from a previous use.

With this little guy, this scenario is no problem whatsoever.

I always have a fully charged battery that is ready whenever I need it!

 Kitchen Quick Clean Checklist

Time to tackle the kitchen!

Again, clutter is key.

If you’re preparing a meal, I always encourage working well ahead of time so that you have time to deal with the bulk of the mess before your guests arrive.

I like to wipe down prep areas and declutter heavily used spaces to make your space look neat and tidy.

This also helps you get ahead of the clean up after you’ve entertained or had a meal.

Having your dishwasher empty and clean dishes stored away is ideal.

#7) Appliance/Fixture Wipe Down

quick cleaning checklist

I also like to take a quick minute to sanitize and wipe down the face and handles of my kitchen appliances.

It doesn’t take long before these surfaces get seriously grimy!

If you have time, wipe out the inside of your microwave.

Steaming a cup of water for 1-2 minutes helps loosen any stuck on foods so that they wipe out easily.

#8) Clean Your Dishes & Sink Trap

quick cleaning checklist

If you have time, I like to have most of my dishes washed and stacked in the drying rack, or put away.

There will always be some last minute prep items that will need to land in the sink.

Make sure there is space for them and that you don’t have a mountain of dirty dishes sitting in your wash basin.

#9) Put Out Fresh Kitchen Towels & Rags

The same goes for the kitchen as the bathroom.

A fresh hand towel, and a fresh cleaning rag goes a long way in making a good impression!

#10) Main Window Wipe Down

quick cleaning checklist

This checklist item is most important if your guests will be arriving during daylight.

I like to quickly windex glass areas in our main living space where we will congregate most of the time.

Our front door has glass, so I like to wipe off the paw and hand prints so that it is clean to first greet our guests.

If I have time, I hit my main kitchen windows next to my sink and table.

I’m always glad when I do!

Happy Quick Cleaning You All!

I think it’s awesome that you are opening up your home and working to get it ready.

You sound like my kind of people! 😉

Don’t panic if everything isn’t perfect.  It never will be.

Take the time you have to tidy up spaces you and your guests will use the most and you’ll be good to go.
