Welcome to my Christmas tree decor home tour.
Ok…that sounds a lot cooler than it probably actually is, but let’s go with it.
My friend and I have been chatting that it just seems right to get out the Christmas decor early this year.
And as usual, I’m going all out to deck the halls.
Let’s talk Christmas trees!

Christmas Tree Talk
At our house, Christmas tree decorating can become a hotly contested event.
We have young children who want to pile ornaments in one place before the lights are up.
A patiently annoyed husband who is heaving heavy boxes down from the rafters.
And a Mom who is anxiously awaiting to create an artistic display amidst the chaos. 😉
This is why I decided a multi-tree approach works best for our family!
Let’s take a look at them…
The Main Event Christmas Tree Decorations & Themes
Our large family room Christmas tree is the star of the show, and usually my main focus for design and decor.
I wish I had a big gorgeous pre-lit Christmas tree like my friend Allie, but I don’t.
I was lucky to find a large full tree in our shop that was left my our homes previous owners.
Since the price was right, I decided to make the most of it. 😉
I start by stringing on a heavy amount of lights before doing anything else!
By placing one layer placed deeply inside the branches, and the next on the outer edge it really gives it a fully lit look.
Next up, the ornaments.
I’ve really been loving bright red berries this year!
Our newly renovated farmhouse has a lot of bright whites, burlap and natural textures so I wanted to bring those elements into our main event family room tree.
Every year I head to our local Hobby Lobby store shortly after Christmas and LOAD UP on clearance ornaments and berry stems to add to my collection.
To start this creation I first put on the white/light colored ornaments.
After studying a couple of pictures, I realized it looks best on a tree this size to have those ornaments grouped together!
They make more a statement that way, and I love the bright pops of white color when are grouped together.
I also try to mix up the shapes and textures of the white ornaments.
This helps give dimension and visual interest.
There are large round bulbs, more teardrop shaped cones and glass as well as snowflakes and stars.
Next up, the burlap and golds.
I thought about stopping here and adding a wide ribbon.
If you wanted to go for a lovely muted farmhouse style of Christmas tree decorations you completely could.
But, I had the pile of berries sitting there so decided to make use of them!
These berries are lose stem berries (that you could put in a vase or pitcher).
I simply stuck them into the branches and trees, and made sure they would rest securely on the branches.
I tried to group berry clusters similar to the way I did the white ornaments.
And I also save a cluster of berries to fan out at the top of the tree!
I’m really happy with how it turned out!
Maybe some year I’ll splurge on a pre-lit beauty.
But for now, I’m making the most of what we had on hand.
This tree sits adjacent our fireplace, that also has a coordinating berry mantle garland that I love so much.

The Kids Christmas Tree Decorations
Remember my eager young tree decorators?
It solved a lot of Christmas tree arguments when I decided to designate each one of these little trees for my kids to decorate.
They get to let their creative juices flow on this darling set of small Christmas trees that live in our sitting room next to the kitchen.
This is where our home made ornaments, gifts, and crafts go to be proudly displayed.
My daughter Allie really gets into the Christmas spirit to decorate her tree!
Dining Room Christmas Tree Decorations
Last but not least, the dining room!
We make a point to celebrate special holiday dinners (Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) in our beautiful dining room.
I think it helps set the day apart, and make it special to eat in a room we don’t use everyday.
In here I have a muted color themes of white, golds, coppers and greenery.
I have room to tuck a small and tall tree at the end of our bay window in this room.
Because it sits close to our dining room table, I coordinate the dining room tablescape and tree together!
Gathering in this beautiful space under dim lights on Christmas eve is one of my favorite moments of the holiday.
My buffet table top decor follows a similar theme as well.
Groupings of items with varying textures and muted color patterns.
I took these pictures before ‘Believe’ table top sign has arrived that will sit in between the lamps!
Can’t wait!
To help save money, I leave my set of three candle stands up throughout the year and work around them.
I simply change out the candles themselves, and the greenery around them, as well as the wreath on the back wall.
You can see an example of that in my fall table decorations post.
This tree is filled with gold and copper bulb ornaments, gold flowers and stems, and frosted eucalyptus leaves.
All thanks to my clearance bin raiding out of season, I am thrilled with how it turned out considering it didn’t cost a lot of money to create!
